About 30.8 percent of the 1,178 degrees and certificates handed out by the Bates Technical College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Tacoma conferred 243 certificates and 120 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Phlebotomy Technician/Phlebotomist. Data shows the school gave out 190 certificates in Phlebotomy Technician/Phlebotomist, followed by 154 certificates in Diesel Mechanics Technology/Technician and 107 certificates in Early Childhood Education and Teaching.

The college enrolled 3,291 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
