Issaquah Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
Rowley Properties, Inc. of Issaquah, Washington officially broke ground in Hyla Crossing today (8/15) on its 2005 NW Poplar Mixed-Use Office building. The new building is located at the gateway to Issaquah and is soon to be an iconic welcome to the community with its sustainable cross laminated timber (CLT) and illuminated glass staircase. Adjacent to Tibbetts Creek Greenway, the setting and design inspires productivity and innovation… a place to let your nature begin®. Conveniently located near all the amenities today’s workforce desires – dog daycare, childcare, multiple fitness options, meeting rooms, hotels, restaurants, a brewery, recreation and more. Tenants will have an incredible forested mountain backdrop and access to parks and hiking trails out the back door. Located on I-90 just off exit 15 and SR900, and within walking distance to the Issaquah Transit Center, the approximately 70,000 sf, four-story building will be owned and managed by Rowley Properties, Inc. Construction is projected to be complete early summer of 2020.
VIA Architecture has worked closely with Rowley Properties, Inc. for the past decade to create a future vision for its Hyla Crossing and Rowley Center neighborhoods. In support of Issaquah’s sustainability values, VIA was a huge advocate for Rowley Properties to be the first champion of CLT in the community. CLT is showcased on the fourth floor where it is exposed on the interior and the overhanging exterior eyebrow elements. Glass curtain walls celebrate the views and bring lots of natural light into the space. And brick cladding on the exterior continues the tradition of building with masonry, consistent with the Hyla Crossing neighborhood theme. True to VIA’s design approach, this building is a testament to the team’s keen eye for detail.
GLY Construction will serve as the General Contractor for the project.
“After successfully bringing a Hilton Garden Inn-Seattle/Issaquah® and Homewood Suites® to serve our community, I’m delighted to be delivering a new mixed-use office to continue building on the exciting momentum happening in our Hyla Crossing neighborhood,” said Kari (Rowley) Magill, CEO for Rowley Properties, Inc. “Issaquah is an idyllic place to both live and work. We’re honored to be delivering a unique venue that’ll bring jobs to complement the many, existing businesses already here.”
“Issaquah offers a rare combination of beautiful scenery with its “Alps,” high quality of life and a thriving business community along with an enticing collection of shops and restaurants. We happen to think Issaquah is one of the most special places in the PNW to do business. Rowley Properties doesn’t just build here, they live here. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want to open an office at The Poplar, it is truly special.” said Kathy McCorry, CEO for the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce. “Together with Rowley Properties, we are excited to bring more jobs to Issaquah.”
