There were 1,782 hospitals in the U.S. that had between 100 and 249 employees in 2016, according to County Business Patterns (CBP) statistics provided by the United States Census Bureau.

CBP data indicates that there are more establishments categorized as retail trade businesses with between 100 and 249 employees in the U.S. than in any other category.
